It was an easy day in a city I love to photo walk in, New York. I was at the Out of New York Conference , surrounded by lots of other photographers. There was and exhibitor area set up, and Tamron was there. At their table they had a lens that I had been curious about since it was announced, the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8. Here are my #NotesFromTheField on this lens.
This is not a review, just my quick thoughts.
The kind folks at Tamron let me put the lens on my Nikon D750 for a few quick shots. The first thing I notices was the weight and size of the lens. It was Double the size of my Nikon 35mm f2D but lighter, it was a bit surprising
The images I got with the lens were sharp and clean. Focusing was fascinating. The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 could focus extremely close with it’s minimum focusing distance of 7.9”. It made it nice for close up shooting. I would love to use this lens for coffee photography.
If I was in the market for a new 35mm lens, this lens would definitely be considered.
