It was a fascinating week exploring the frontier. The end of August was mild, and 2018’s summer was in its twilight. I did not achieve all my goals for the summer, but for this one last week of the month, I tried to make things a little interesting for my self.
I know now, that in the early days of the summer, I should have planned better. As I busied myself with others concerns I should have realized that it would affect my summer mornings exploring the frontier. With my vast pool of accumulated knowledge at my disposal, I should have scrutinized and studied the recently passed summers and realized I would not have as much time as I wanted to photo wander. Summers over, but I did enjoy it as much as possible.
I manage to actually take a few days off and one of them was the Monday that began the last week of August. I got up early and traveled with my progeny to a seven-mile stretch of spectacular ocean and bay beaches know as Sandy Hook. It was the only time I was able to get near a beach during the summer. I owe myself another photo walk on a boardwalk somewhere. I want to drink coffee with my feet in the sand again.
The work week was a slog. I need a proper vacation, at least a week off. My team has been working hard for a while now and I think I am the only one who has not taken a proper break.
I did manage to give my self a few extra quiet caffeinated moments during the week. I think it’s what got me through the week.
During the week, my neighborhood actually had a power outage. It does not happen often. While it only lasted a short while, it was an excellent opportunity for a long exposure moment.
The week ended with a bit of insanity. I shall not speak its name. However, when we came out on the other side, we got to enjoy some music in a park. I brought my camera of course. It was fun to push the Sony A6300 to its limits with the Sony 50mm 1.8 lens.
It was also fun to find a nice awkward quiet moment as well.
With the last Sunday of August upon me, and as the family was sleeping, I made my way to Liberty State Park in Jersey City. It was an excellent place to walk in the mornings.
Colored leaves, falling from the trees, accumulating in the streets, with cooler weather in tow. Autumn will be upon us eventually. The weekly grind will continue, and maybe the photo wandering as well.
As I make my way through the week, I always have my camera in hand sharing the wonders I see. Here is a bit of camera work from the week.
