When I got into digital photography, making my initial camera choice, there were two final cameras considered, the d300 and the d90. The later won but as time moved on I always thought about the d400 as an upgrade. There was no d400, I ended up with a D700, then a D750, great choices on my part. Now the Nikon D500 is out it’s made me curious and had me rethinking my crop sensor roots. At Photo Plus Expo I got to take a look at the D500 and it was interesting.
A DX Format with 20.9 Megapixels, 10 FPS Continuous Shooting, and ISO range of 100-51,200 expandable to 1,640,000, with 4K video, this camera is a nice release for Nikon. The D500 is surprisingly light. Slightly bigger than a D750 , closer to a D810 in size the camera’s ergonomics have a nice refinement. I did not get to take pictures with the camera , but look forward to getting my hands on one eventually. So far, if I were to consider a crop frame sensor camera , this would be my choice.
