Not too long ago, my wife asked me how come I keep using the same camera bag, everyday. She suggested it was time for a new bag. I told her she would have to pry the bag out of my cold dead hands. My ThinkTank Urban Disguise 60 V2 has been with me through thick and thin. It is a testament to the quality of the product Think Tank Photo makes. In checking my email I see they have announced some new bags. Since this is right before Photo Plus Expo 2016 (They will be in Booth 1029),I can’t wait to see them. There’s a nice variety to the design of these bags and they are tempting.
The first new bags to catch my eye were the upgrades to the Shape Shifter line. Think Tank’s Shape Shifter expands and contracts to hold gripped camera bodies and a laptop. In response to input from professional photographers, Think Tank has released the Shape Shifter in three new configurations. The Shape Shifter 15 V2.0 is designed to hold a 15” laptop and the Shape Shifter 17 is designed to hold a 17” laptop. The Naked Shape Shifter allows photographers to attach Skin Pouches or Lens Changers inside to create a totally customized modular backpack. The Naked Shape Shifter my be my next bag.
MindShift Gear’s New TrailScape
Another newly announced bag that also caught my eye MindShift Gear’s new TrailScape backpack. This new bag was designed with the outdoor photographer in mind. The TrailScape allows outdoor photographers to carry their essential gear in a light compact bag. The TrailScape fits a complete camera system, including a 70-200mm f/2.8 attached with hood in the shooting position. With its multiple lash points, photographers can carry extra gear, such as a laptop or tablet, light jacket and lunch. It looks good for a long day of photography.
Third Generation of the Airport Rolling Camera Bags
I have been using a Think Tank Roller bag, not for travel but when I have to move a lot of gear to different locations for my day job. It is nice to see there is another new upgrade to the line. Airport International™ V3.0 and Airport Security™ V3.0 rolling camera bags feature improved handles, greater durability, and dedicated laptop and tablet compartments. These new features, in addition to their airline carry on compliance, TSA approved zipper locks, tripod mounts, and Lost & Found registration system make them the gold standard for photo transport cases. These bags hold a LOT of gear whether you are traveling locally or over seas.
Airport Advantage Carry On Rolling Camera Bag
Another bag that really caught my eye is the Airport Advantage rolling camera bag. I know what this bag is meant for, but for me it looks perfect for a train. I ride a lot of trains. As is true in small airplane is the amount of gear I can carry is limited by the actual amount of space I have. The Airport Advantage rolling camera bag is designed for traveling on commuter or regional jets, the bag’s customized interior holds the maximum amount of gear that will fit in overhead bins or under seats. I look forward to seeing this bag at Think Tanks Photos Booth at Photo Plus Expo
